Taam China serves up the finest kosher Chinese food in the city. That isn't saying a whole lot, considering it only has one competitor, but if you're in the neighborhood, the menu won't disappoint. Cramped seating means the best bet is probably take-out, but don't worry: traditional favorites like scallion pancakes ($5) and sesame chicken ($12) will definitely stay crispy on the quick bus back to campus. Also open on Sa from 30min. after the Sabbath ends until midnight.

If one were to take a Lower East Side bakery and transport it to Brookline, the result would be something like Kupel's. Mouths will water at the cases of traditional favorites like giant hamentaschen (triangular cookies), about 6 varieties of rugalach (small rolled pastry), and just every way to put apples and dough together. Most pastries run $1.50, smaller ones $6.50/lb. Not surprisingly, Kupel's also has some of the best bagels ($0.75, $6/dozen) around, and their challah ($3.75), made fresh daily, is not to be missed.

Thank you for your contribution. You've taken a huge step to making Povo the "word on the street,"
and we appreciate it very much. Because of the complexity of the "wiki text" and code that can be used
