Built in 1933, the Coolidge is a movie palace (not a multi-plex) and it usually features independent and foreign films as well as an eclectic variety of festivals. As Boston's only non-profit first-run arthouse theater, it's no surprise that movies from the Republic of China Film Festival, Boston Jewish flicks, Cartoon Madness and Sci-Fi Marathons have all graced the curtain-adorned screen. A must see is the annual “You Oughta Be in Pictures” screening, a night dedicated to locally-made porn (all copies of the film are destroyed after the viewing, so that voyeuristic politician in you can fear not). As a testament to the Coolidge's popularity, patrons raised $750,000 to save the theater from closing a few years ago. Admission $9, children and senior citizens $6, members $6. Bargain matinee screenings $7.

Join in the family fun on Saturday mornings at 10:30am. The theater now hosts children's entertainers, magicians, cartoons, and movies. Some puppet performances are staged in conjunction with the Puppet Showplace Theater.

GRAFFITI
Graffiti is a place for quick notes. Know the hours of a business but not sure where to put it? Did something just happen at this place? Leave some graffiti.
Sometimes street view does not point exactly to the right place. You may need to "drive around" a bit.
